Common questions

How much can I borrow for a mortgage?

Lenders look at your income, outgoings, deposit and credit history, and each has different rules. As a CeMAP-qualified adviser I help you understand what you can realistically borrow and find a lender whose criteria fit your situation. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

I'm self-employed — can I still get a mortgage?

Yes. Being self-employed or on a contract does not stop you getting a mortgage; it just means lenders assess your income differently. I know which lenders take a sensible view of self-employed and contractor income and help you present your case well.

When should I start looking at a remortgage?

It is usually worth reviewing around six months before your current deal ends, so there is time to arrange a new rate and avoid slipping onto a lender's higher standard variable rate. I can look at whether staying put or moving lender works better for you.
